Asia & Australasia Gala Ceremony 2010

14 October 2010 – Delhi

Asia & Australasia

Destination

Delhi, the capital and third largest city of India, and one of the country’s fastest growing cities, is a fusion of the ancient and the modern.

In Old Delhi you will discover formidable mosques, monuments and forts. You will also discover lively and colourful bazaars selling all sorts of goods at mind-blowing prices, in a barely controlled chaotic ambience.

The imperial city of New Delhi displays the finely curved architecture of British Raj. New Delhi is known for its beautiful wide, tree-lined boulevards and many national institutions and landmarks.

Delhi is a dream for food and art lovers. From age-old eateries in the by lanes of the Walled City to glitzy, specialty restaurants in five-star hotels, Delhi is a movable feast. Delhi offers a choice of Indian and international cuisines in different ambiences to suit varied budgets. Delhi has become the most vibrant creative art centre in India, having overtaken Mumbai and Kolkata in recent years. The city has more than twenty five galleries.

All eyes will be on Delhi when they host the XIX Commonwealth Games from 3-14 October. Delhi is undergoing extensive rejuvenation and transformation, to ensure it looks its best for visitors during the Games. The Games will bring positive benefits to the Indian tourism industry.
