Johannesburg, 'The City of Gold', is an internationally renowned vibrant metropolis, with 3.5million inhabitants.

Also known as Jozi, Joburg or Egoli - the city, founded in 1886 with the discovery of gold, is home to some of the finest nightlife and entertainment around, with a thriving local music scene that caters for all musical tastes.

In addition, the city boasts beautiful natural surroundings – the area where Joburg stands was once grassland, but is now one of the biggest man-made forests in the world – and provides numerous opportunities for those who love the great outdoors.

The financial powerhouse of the country, Joburg is home to 74% of Corporate Headquarters and South Africa's only stock exchange.

All eyes will be on South Africa this year, as they host the much-anticipated 2010 FIFA World Cup in June/July. Thousands of fans are expected to flock to South Africa for this great event. The country’s tourism sector is expecting a significant boost in 2010.
