Latin America Gala Ceremony 2015

10 October 2015 – Bogotá, Colombia

Latin America

Bogotá

The cultural and business heart of Colombia, Bogotá is a thriving capital city, cradled by lofty Andean peaks. The epicentre of Bogotá is La Candelaria, an historic quarter that is home to a glittering array of preciously-preserved colonial buildings, museums, restaurants, hotels and bars peppered amid 300-year-old homes, churches and convents. Nearly all of Bogotá's traditional attractions are here – radiating out from Plaza de Bolívar – and gorgeous Cerro de Monserrate is just east.

Essential places to visit include Botero Museum (with work by artists such as Picasso, Miro, Monet and Degas) and the marvellous Gold Museum. Also remember to try the exquisite local cuisine, which mainly involves a fusion of indigenous and Spanish influences.

To the north, you’ll find boutique hotels and well-heeled locals piling into chic entertainment districts such as the Zona Rosa and Zona G. Here, rust-tinted sunsets dramatically bounce off the bricks of upper-class Bogotá's Andes-hugging residential buildings – a cinematic ceremony that begins the city's uproarious evenings.
