We are pleased to be hosting the European leg of the World Travel Awards in North East England.
In recent years the region has gained international recognition as an up and coming European destination.
The invitation to host the World Travel Awards (Europe) came after North East England’s ‘Passionate people. Passionate places’ campaign was named the world’s leading regional marketing campaign for the second time.
The campaign harnesses the region’s best assets to position North East England as a great place to do business, live, work, study and visit. It highlights the best the region has to offer through its people, history and heritage, coast and countryside, city culture and innovative business.

But the best way to understand what we are talking about is to visit the region and see for yourself.
Explore castles, country houses and glorious gardens and from coast to countryside discover Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty, Heritage Coastline or the Northumberland National Park.
The spectacular Hadrian's Wall is one of our two Unesco World Heritage sites. The other, Durham Castle and Cathedral has been described as ‘the best cathedral on planet earth.’
Visit one of our vibrant cities to shop, dine out or simply enjoy our theatres, cinemas and music venues.
With the support of the WTA we hope to encourage delegates to arrive in the region early and will also be running familiarization visits for delegates and media.
In addition to the awards ceremony and gala dinner planned for the 9 October there will be a World Travel CEO Forum taking place in the region on 8 October.
