Over 300 top names in the world's travel industry attended the dinner and Awards Ceremony at Europe's Leading Hotel, The Dorchester, in Park Lane the heart of London. The 1999 Awards Ceremony was held in conjunction with World Travel Market, one of the world's biggest travel trade exhibitions.The Champagne Reception was followed by a truly sumptuous dinner, with fine wines flowing as guests tried to decide who the award winners were likely to be. The excitement of the presentation of trophies continued unabated as a thrilling variety of entertainers provided the climax of the evening a star-studded International Cabaret.

The World Travel Awards is recognised as the only global travel awards ceremony in which all of the winners are chosen by travel agents worldwide. The voting took place by email, post and fax and via the Internet Campaign with our voting partners Travelocity.com, Travelnow.com, Reed Travel Exhibitions, World Travel Net and many more.

Each of the awards for over 100 winners was presented by a celebrity. These included Leo Sayer, Shane Richie, Bradley Walsh, Rick Wakeman, Nina Carter, Nigel Mansell and Brian Jacks. The Drifters and Edwin Starr headed the International Cabaret, and The Artist formerly known as Prince was among the celebrity guests.

The Grand Finale of the glittering evening was the announcement that the Millennium World Travel Awards will be held in Jamaica, in September 2000. Everyone present vowed to meet under the starry Caribbean skies for yet another terrific celebration of the world travel industry's achievements!
