ABU DHABI - Abu Dhabi Tourism Authority (ADTA) has scooped four major awards in the Middle East round of the World Travel Awards 2011.

Presented at a gala dinner in Dubai, the awards saw ADTA receive honours for: ‘The Middle East’s Leading Destination Marketing Campaign; ‘The Middle East’s Leading International Marketing Campaign;’ ‘The Middle East’s Leading Tourist Board’ and ‘The Middle East’s Responsible Tourism Award.’

Announcing the awards, Manon Han, Executive Vice President, World Travel Awards said the authority had achieved much in its six years of existence helping to steer Abu Dhabi from a destination with few hotels, rooms, air access and attractions to a credible contender on the international tourism landscape.

The awards were received on the authority’s behalf by Khaled Al Hashemi, its Administration Director and Nasser Al Reyami, its Tourism Standards Director.

Other Abu Dhabi winners included: Etihad Airways, Emirates Palace, ADNEC, Royal Jet, Beach Rotana, Qasr Al Sarab Desert Resort and Omeir Travel.

It rounded off two successful days for Abu Dhabi following on the naming of Aloft Abu Dhabi as the ‘Best New Hotel’ in this week’s Arabian Hotel Investment Conference honours.
