MakeMyTrip, Yatra.com nominated for World Travel Awards 2007

Online travel companies MakeMyTrip.com and Yatra.com have been nominated for World Travel Awards 2007, the most prestigious awards program in the global travel industry. MakeMyTrip and Yatra have been nominated in the Asia’s Leading Travel Agency category. The winners of Annual World Travel Awards 2007 will be declared at the Asia, Austral Asia & Indian Ocean Awards in Bangkok on September 6, 2007. Awards will be decided through voting and recommendations made by the travel industry professionals across the globe.

Dhruv Shringi, co-founder and director, Yatra.com, has said, “We are extremely delighted to be nominated for this internationally recognized award category. Being nominated endorses our position as a leading player in the online travel space.”

Yatra.com was launched in August 2006 and within a short span of time it has seen a 40 fold increase in revenue with an employee base touching 400. Currently, Yatra is posting average revenue of $9.5 million a month with a volume of 4,500 tickets and 250 rooms a day. The company projects a turnover of $120 million by the end of 2007 and expects to break even by the end of 2008.
