A LOCAL resort scooped three awards at the 16th annual world travel awards in London over the weekend.
The Westin Denarau Island Resort and Spa won the "Australasia's Leading Golf Resort", "Fiji's Leading Golf Resort" and "Fiji's Leading Spa Resort" against an impressive list of competitors.
The World Travel Awards are the most comprehensive and prestigious in the global travel industry and this year the poll was the highest in the awards' 16-year history as over 170,000 travel industry professionals cast their votes for what they considered to be the very best travel, tourism and hospitality products and services.
"It is an honour to see The Westin Denarau Island Resort and Spa recognised as 'Australasia's Leading Golf Resort" and as Fiji's leading Golf and Spa Resort at these top industry awards," resort managing director Shane Cunning said.
"These three prestigious accolades are a testament to the commitment and dedication of the resort team in positioning the Westin as the leading leisure resort in Fiji."
The resort had been previously recognised as "Fiji's Leading Golf Resort" in 2007 and 2008 respectively and also won "Fiji's Leading Spa Resort" in 2008.
