The Costa Rica Star: Costa Rica Received 10 Recognitions at World Travel Awards Latin America 2019

Not only was Costa Rica selected as Mexico’s and Central America’s Leading travel Destination 2019 by the World Travel Awards but it also took 10 additional awards.

The 2019 Latin America World Travel Awards ceremony was held in Bolivia.

The Costa Rican Tourism Board (ICT) received an award in the category of Leading Tourist Board for Mexico and Central America .Costa Rica’s Hotel Nantipa picked up ‘Mexico & Central America’s Leading New Hotel’.

ICT received the award from among a group of nominees that included tourism offices and institutes from Belize, Honduras, Mexico, Nicaragua, Panama and El Salvador.

“We are proud to receive this award for the Costa Rican Tourism Board, which is a tangible demonstration of the teamwork carried out by each and every one of our team members in accomplishing our objectives and fulfilling our responsibilities as the leading tourism body”, said Maria Amalia Revelo, Minister of Tourism.

Gaia Hotel & Reserve was named the Best Boutique Hotel; the Costa Rica Convention Center (CCCR) was awarded first place in the category of “Leading Meetings and Conference Center” for the Mexico and Central America region; San José was named as the Best City for an Urban Scape.

The Best Hotel Award was given to The Gilded Iguana Hotel; Avis was recognized as the Best Rental Car company, while the Best Hotel Suit award went to the Presidential Suite of the JW Marriot Resort & Spa in Guanacaste and the Best Resort Award went to Barceló Tambor.

The World Travel Awards have been announced annually for over 26 years, aiming to recognize the best regions and companies dedicated to travel and tourism around the world. The competition is held in various regions. Thanks to its major reach, the Central America and Mexico category has become an industry favorite.

The world champions will be announced at the Grand Finale in Muscat, Oman, in November 2019
