American Airlines Named “North America’s Leading Airline”

The prestigious World Travel Awards North and Central America Ceremony took place this past weekend in Orlando. Everybody and anybody in the world of the travel was at the event, which was held at Disney’s Swan and Dolphin and sponsored by Eurostar.

American Airlines took top honors as “North America’s Leading Airline,” while the St. Regis Hotel, New York was named “North America’s Leading Hotel.” The 15th World Travel Awards winners were voted by travel agents around the globe.

Other top award winners included The Ritz-Carlton Marina Del Rey, California as “North America’s Leading Airport Hotel,” The Waldorf Towers, New York as “North America’s Leading Boutique Hotel,” and Four Seasons Boston as “North America’s Leading Business Hotel.”

Dozens of other awards were handed out, some by state and others nationally. Uniglobe Geo Travel was recognized as the leading travel agency and New York City as the leading tourist board in North America. As the world continues to get more and more eco-friendly, “green” hotels are being recognized for their efforts. Plantation Golf Resort & Spa, Florida went home with this year’s award for “North America’s Leading Green Hotel.”
