North American winners of World Travel Awards announced

On Saturday, the World Travel Awards for North America were presented in numerous categories to companies operating in the travel sector in the region. Major winners included American Airlines, chosen as the top airline in North America, New York’s John F. Kennedy International Airport, as the top airport in North America, and Hyatt Hotels, as North America’s leading hotel brand.

The awards, which are London-based, recognized 145 winners in many categories in Canada, Mexico, North America, and in some countries in Central America.
Seven regional award ceremonies are hosted by the World Travel Awards each year. The award ceremony for North America and Central America was held on Saturday in Orlando, Florida.

The World Travel Award organizers explained that specific awards are determined by voted that are “received from agents and travel professionals throughout the world,” and that the competitiveness of the program “encourages greater quality, value and, above all, exceptional customer experience spanning every sector and region worldwide.”
In awards for the state of Texas, the award for the leading hotel went to the Dallas Fairmont, with the award for the best business hotel going to the Dallas Hyatt Regency.
