RTL Today: Beaches, hotels, and city breaks - Portugal has it all

Portugal has beaten off all its competition to scoop up a significant proportion of the European awards at the 2019 World Travel Awards.

Amongst Portugal's accolades are 'Europe's leading tourism board', 'Europe's leading city break destination', 'Europe's leading beach destination', and many more.

The country was chosen as Europe's best tourist destination in 2019, with the Algarve gaining its own award as the leading beach destination. And of course, the Portuguese capital Lisbon also received its own accolade.

Many Portuguese establishments also won the awards in several hotel categories, namely business, design, luxury, all-inclusive, and romantic hotels. The Portuguese airline TAP Portugal also won the award for Europe's leading airline towards South America and Africa.
