World Travel Awards for Grenada's Calabash Hotel

The Calabash Hotel and Villas, a luxury resort in Grenada, was voted the best hotel on the island at the 2007 World Travel Awards. The award coincides with Calabash achieving the prestigious 4 Diamond standard with the AAA.

The recognition of the Calabash comes soon after the resort carried out a multi-million dollar face-lift. Calabash's Leo Garbutt commenting on the award said "We are delighted to receive the award. When one considers that the voting was open to over 160,000 travel professionals it is nice to know that they consider the Calabash to be the best of the lot. We constantly put a lot of effort into training our people and capital into refurbishing and upgrading the hotel over the years and I am glad to see it is paying off and our staff must be congratulated as they are magnificent."

The Calabash is well known for its Rhodes Restaurant, the result of a joint agreement between Leo Garbutt and celebrity chef Gary Rhodes. The restaurant, established as a must for all visitors to Grenada, has a menu which cleverly combines a respect for traditional Caribbean cuisine with Rhodes' trademark European flair and attention to detail. By using local suppliers and quality sustainable produce the Rhodes Restaurant continues to satisfy even the most demanding critic.
