St. Lucia Voted World’s Best Honeymoon Spot
St.Lucia has won the vote as the World’s Leading Honeymoon Destination at the 14th Annual World Travel Awards 2007.
The Annual World Travel Awards have presented the Caribbean Island of St. Lucia as the top spot for newly weds.
The award ceremony revealed that St. Lucia is viewed as “the loveliest of all isles.”
The voting campaign reached a total of 167,000 travel professionals worldwide and was hailed by the Wall Street Journal as the “travel industry's equivalent to the Oscars.”
The number of five star romantic properties on the island has increased with developments such as Jade Mountain at Anse Chastanet a luxury hotel overlooking St. Lucia's Piton World Heritage site and the Caribbean Sea. St. Lucia has also seen a 7.4% increase in UK arrival figures with an increase in honeymooners from Northern counties in the UK, including Cheshire (34.6%), Lancashire (127.6%) and Merseyside (70.9%).
