The World Travel Awards 2007 celebrated in the Caribbean

The World Travel Awards 2007 (WTA) was held in Caribbean last Thursday, with the Beaches Turks & Caicos Resort & Spa acting as host to the night’s celebrations. Over 320 representatives from the travel trade, VIPs as well as local and international media from 30 countries from across the globe came together for the 14th World Travel Awards ceremony.

Sixty WTA trophies were handed out, with Marriott Hotels Resorts & Suites receiving the “World’s Leading Hotel Brand” award and Burj Al Arab winning the “World’s Leading Hotel” category. Emirates Palace also walked away with the “World’s Leading Conference Hotel” title.

Jumeirah was awarded “World’s Leading Luxury Hotel Brand” and the Maldives Tourism Promotion Board was honoured with an award for “World’s Most Romantic Destination”. Etihad Airways, Amadeus and Europcar also received awards for being the best in their global category. AquaCity founder, Jan Telensky, also walked away with the new entry award this year, being the first to receive the “World’s Leading Green Travel Personality” award.
