More than a dozen Dominican hotels have been nominated in 14 categories by the “World Travel Awards 2012.”
Candidates are nominated by travel agents from all over the world, and the winners are selected by a panel of experts.
The nominating process takes place online and is audited to ensure its validity.
A nomination is considered an important distinction in the business. Winners will be announced on September 14, at the “Beaches Turks & Caicos Resort Villages & Spa.”
The country was nominated in the following categories: Leading Airport (Punta Cana and La Romana airports); Beach Destination; Leading Cruise Ship Destination; Sports Tourism Destination; Leading Hotel and Resort Boutique and Leading in Resort Casinos in the Caribbean.
Other categories include: All-Inclusive Family Hotels; Golf Resort; Green Resort; Leading Honeymoon Resort and Leading Luxury All-Inclusive Resort in the Caribbean.
In the “Lading Boutique Hotels in the Caribbean,” the Sivory Punta Cana and The Bannister Hotel were nominated. The Catalonia Bavaro Resort’s boutique complex was nominated in the category “Leading Caribbean Boutique Resort.”
The world-famous resort “Casa de Campo” was once again included in the Leading Caribbean Golf Resort category.
The resort was also included in the “Family Hotel” category, along with Club Med Punta Cana and the Melia Tropical. It was also nominated in the “Leading Caribbean Honeymoon Resort” and in the “Leading Caribbean Resort” categories, along with the “Casa Colonial Beach & Spa,” a 55-room facility in Puerto Plata.
In the “Leading Casino Resort,” the nominees were the “Paradisus Punta Cana” and the “Barceló Bávaro Palace Deluxe.”
The Puntacana Resort & Club is the only Dominican facility included in the “Leading Green Resorts in the Caribbean” category.
In past years this particular resort has received various awards.
The “Excellence Punta Cana” is the only resort in the country nominated in the “All-Inclusive Luxury Resort” category
