By securing England's Leading Spa Resort 2007 award last night at the annual World Travel Awards, Seaham Hall has crowned a remarkable year.

Across the UK, the hotel triumphs over all other destination spas and has been heralded to enjoy a status similar to that of Oscars.

Previously hosted in New York and Dubai, the ceremony of this year took place at the Marriott Gosforth Park Hotel, covered by international media and broadcasted to over 250 millions homes by the BBC World Channel.

The prestigious award was received by Debrah Dhugga, The chief executive of Tom's companies. Notably, Tom's Companies owns the famous Seaham Hall and Serenity Spa.

Expressing her delight over securing this highly prestigious accolade, Debrah Dhugga remarked, "We are absolutely delighted to have won such a huge accolade. This is a fantastic achievement not only for Tom's Companies, but also to have the recognition as a world wide leading hotel and spa resort and situated in the North East. I am sure it will help boost tourism in the region."

Earlier this year, the business has won several other prestigious awards including the top prize in British Beauty and Spa awards and the North East Tourism awards. Winning the highly envied five-star red star status last year, the company brought Michelin star to the region to The White Room, the award winning restaurant. Earlier, the spa was rated the best at the Gala Spa awards in 2006.
