World Travel Awards launches new global website
March 2007 - London
The World Travel Awards, the globe’s leading tourism accolades, is launching the most comprehensive website redesign in the company's history.
A new web portal is being rolled out that presents the World Travel Awards (WTA) in a lighter, brighter and more modern design. In order to enhance the overall user experience, major improvements have been made to the navigation and events section.
Key sections, like the homepage and the nominations have also been redesigned from scratch, while all previous functionalities have been retained or improved.
"We have enhanced the events section because we are doing more than one gala event this year -- in fact we are doing five. The winners and nominees lists have also been improved. They are now easier to view and navigate,” says Manon Han, Vice President for the World Travel Awards.
“With the new web design in place and improved usability, as well as interactivity, we are very optimistic that our tremendous growth continues throughout 2007."
The website also allows users to sign up to the WTA newsletter. The voting form has also been completely redesigned to make it easier for people to cast their nominations.
“We are also in the process of putting our entire archive from the past 14 years online, this includes details of all our past events, as well as winners and nominees,” says Han.
“The goal is to make the site as interactive as possible, so that winners and nominees can participate actively in the World Travel Awards whenever they go online.”
The site also offers a new profile for WTA sponsors including block advertisements featuring travel partners. There are also opportunities to sponsor a slide in the flash banner at the top of every page.

The World Travel Awards was established in 1993 to acknowledge and celebrate excellence in the world's travel and tourism industry. With thousands of votes cast by travel professionals from 160,000 travel agencies in over 200 countries across the globe, winning a World Travel Award has become one of the highest accolades a travel product can achieve.
