Africa’s most important night for travel and tourism – World Travel Awards is coming to town

The leading lights of African travel will celebrate their achievements when the World Travel Awards comes to Durban on 11 May 2009.

The World Travel Awards is the industry’s highest accolade. It recognises the “best of the best” travel brands, with the winners reaping massive international exposure.

More than 500 African organisations have been nominated in the ceremony, which is being held in partnership with ICC Durban. Categories include awards for Botswana, Cameroon, Cape Verde, Egypt, Gabon, Gambia, Kenya, Morocco, Mozambique, Namibia, Nigeria, South Africa, Tanzania, Togo, Tunisia, Zambia and Zimbabwe.

“It is an exciting time to be in Africa right now, with the eyes of the global industry focusing on the 2009 FIFA Confederations Cup and 2010 FIFA World Cup,” said Graham E. Cooke, President and Founder of the World Travel Awards. “We are thrilled to hold our Africa Ceremony during INDABA. And with standards across the continent continually improving, this year’s event promises to be the most hotly contested ever.”

“The winners are able to display the official World Travel Awards symbol with pride on their sales and marketing literature, offering travellers a cast-iron assurance that what they are buying is a guarantee of travel excellence.

The gala ceremony will be hosted by Gerry Rantseli, with entertainment from BONEY M original Maizie Williams, Kwel Tebza, Sterling EQ, along with comedian Trevor Noah.
