Thailand played host to the World Travel Awards VIP gala ceremony held on September 28, 2011 at the Dusit Thani Bangkok. VIPs, senior tourism leaders, captains of industry, and international media traveled from over 30 nations to attend the World Travel Awards Asia & Australasia Ceremony 2011.

Among the leading organisations that received awards were a handful of PATA member organisations, including Malaysia Airlines as Asia’s Leading Airline; India as Asia’s Leading Destination; Bangkok Airways as Asia’s Leading Regional Airline; Six Senses Hideaway Samui as Asia’s Leading Honeymoon Resort; and Bangkok, Thailand as Asia’s Leading Meetings & Conference Destination. PATA Senior Director – Membership and Marketing Services, Stu Lloyd, and PATA Regional Director – Asia, Reid Ridgway, accepted the award in behalf of Jetwing Hotels.

Other PATA members who also received awards include Air India, Tourism Malaysia, Cathay Pacific Airways, Korean Air, Dusit Thani Bangkok, Hertz, Banyan Tree Bangkok, Centara Grand at Central World, and many more.
