Winners of Caribbean's Leading Suite and Turks & Caicos Leading Hotel

Providenciales, Turks and Caicos Islands, - The Somerset Resort located on the award-winning Turks & Caicos Grace Bay Beach is one of the proud recipients of the 16th World Travel Awards. The already award-winning resort walked away with 'Caribbean's Leading Suite' and 'Turks & Caicos Leading Hotel' at the ceremony which was held in London on November 8th 2009.

The Grand Final ceremony held in London short-listed 919 different categories.

Karen Whitt, General Manager of the resort and President of the Turks and Caicos Hotel & Tourism Association said, "We're absolutely thrilled by this year's win. This is the second consecutive year that our stunning Presidential Suite has won the award for the 'Caribbean's Leading Suite' and winning the award for 'Turks and Caicos Leading Hotel', has really given our team at The Somerset much to celebrate".

Whitt continued, "Winning accolades from the World Travel Awards is one of the highest honors that any resort could hope to achieve and we are delighted to receive the recognition. Voted for by travel agents worldwide, these awards provide guests with a true reflection of the views and opinions of the travel industry. Our team of highly-dedicated staff at The Somerset are constantly striving to deliver exceptional service, making this year's award wins a further testament of their hard-work and commitment to developing The Somerset resort's popularity in the global market place".

The underlining principles of the World Travel Award is to drive standards of customer satisfaction and increase the level of sustainable travel industry business. There were 13 hotel/resort awards within the Caribbean regional category this year and The Somerset and one other Turks & Caicos-based resort scooped two of these awards.

Whitt concludes, "It was very exciting to see so many deserving winners in the Caribbean and especially within our very own destination, an indication that the Turks & Caicos Islands is firmly positioned on the tourism map. We'd like to congratulate the other winners and applaud the fantastic work that they are doing to keep the region at the forefront of people's minds."
