Diamonds Bijoux Zanzibar is preparing to host the World Travel Awards Africa Gala Ceremony 2026, which will bring together tourism executives and representatives from across Africa for the organisation’s continental awards event.
Diamonds Bijoux opened in January 2026 on Zanzibar’s south-east coast. The five-star, all-inclusive resort combines contemporary design with Swahili-Arabic architectural influences and offers accommodation along the Indian Ocean coastline.
Zanzibar is an archipelago in the Indian Ocean off the coast of Tanzania. The destination is known for its beaches, spice plantations and UNESCO-listed Stone Town, while its cultural heritage reflects Swahili, Arab and Portuguese influences.
Graham Cooke, Founder of World Travel Awards, said: “We are thrilled to stage our Africa Gala Ceremony in Zanzibar, a destination that belongs on every traveller’s bucket list. Diamonds Bijoux provides the perfect backdrop – a world-class venue that embodies the elegance and warmth Zanzibar is famous for. I look forward to welcoming the most senior travel industry figureheads from across Africa to experience a slice of paradise.”
Zanzibar’s tourism sector is one of the islands’ key economic pillars, contributing to economic activity, employment, investment and international visibility. The President of Zanzibar and Chairman of the Revolutionary Council, H.E. Dr. Hussein Ali Mwinyi, said: “As Zanzibar prepares to host the World Travel Awards Africa Gala Ceremony 2026, this prestigious occasion reflects the growing stature of Zanzibar as one of Africa’s leading tourism destinations celebrated for its pristine beaches, rich cultural heritage, fascinating history, warm hospitality and the dedication of its people.”
Gianni Mannai, General Manager of Diamonds Bijoux Zanzibar, said: “At Diamonds Bijoux Zanzibar, luxury is not only about beautiful villas and breathtaking ocean views; it is also about creating authentic moments of warmth, elegance and unforgettable memories inspired by the spirit of Zanzibar.”
The World Travel Awards Africa Gala Ceremony 2026 will recognise winners across categories covering hotels, airlines, tour operators and destinations.
The event will also mark the opening stage of the World Travel Awards Grand Tour 2026, a series of ceremonies held across different continents. Other host destinations scheduled for this year include the Maldives, Jamaica, Montenegro and the United Arab Emirates, with the Grand Final due to take place in Tanzania.
World Travel Awards was established in 1993 to recognise organisations and achievements across different sectors of the travel and tourism industry. The programme operates through regional ceremonies and an annual Grand Final.
