ICC Africa's top conference centre once more

THE multi-award winning Inkosi Albert Luthuli International Convention Centre (ICC) has done it again last night it was named Africa's Leading Conference Centre for the ninth time.
A beaming Miller Matola, the chief executive, went on to
the stage with his staff collect the prized trophy at the
Africa leg of the World Travel Awards (WTA), a highlight of
the four-day Indaba travel trade show at the ICC.
"Although we were all optimistic, it is stifi quite
overwhelming, which is why I wanted everyone else up on
the stage as I needed their support," said Matola.
Other regional winners were: Thanda Private Game
Reserve, Zimbali Lodge and Country Club and Fordoun
Spa Resort.
The award for Africa's leading travel exhibition went
to Indaba.
Former chief executive of Durban Africa (now Durban
Tourism), Lindiwe Mahiangu, now the chief executive of the
Johannesburg Tourism Company, picked up an unexpected honour for being Africa's Personality of the Year.
She was praised for playing a pivotal role in changing the
perceptions of Johannesburg.
Graham Cooke, president and founder of the WTA,
said the prestigious event would be held in Durban
again next year.
