Manila Times: Philippines gains more nominations at World Travel Awards

THE Philippines has affirmed its status as a prime tourist destination in Asia with multiple nominations at the 2025 World Travel Awards.
The Philippines was set to defend its titles in three key categories: Asia's Leading Beach Destination, Asia's Leading Dive Destination, and Asia's Leading Island Destination.
Meanwhile, Boracay was nominated for Asia's Leading Luxury Island Destination, Intramuros for Asia's Leading Tourist Attraction, and Cebu for Asia's Leading Wedding Destination.
"The sustained and dedicated efforts of the Department of Tourism have once again borne fruit with these nominations from the prestigious World Travel Awards," Tourism Secretary Christina Garcia Frasco said on Wednesday.
"They all reaffirm our steadfast commitment to carry out initiatives with sustainability and inclusivity in mind — efforts that have been made possible through the unwavering support of President Ferdinand R. Marcos, Jr. and his vision to establish the Philippines as a leading tourism powerhouse in Asia," she added.
Voting was set from April 1 to Aug. 31, 2025.

"Winning them will not only add prestige to our endeavors but can also translate into more opportunities for our countrymen relying on tourism for their livelihood as well as surpass the achievements we have made since we took office," Frasco said.
The World Travel Awards is a global program that honors excellence in travel, tourism and hospitality, with nominees selected by industry professionals and winners chosen through open voting by both experts and the public.
