The Philippines, celebrated as Asia’s premier tropical paradise, achieved an impressive milestone in 2024 by generating a staggering PHP760.5 billion (approximately US$13 billion) in tourism earnings. This remarkable figure represents a 9% growth compared to the previous year, surpassing pre-pandemic tourism revenue benchmarks.
Back in 2019, prior to the pandemic’s impact, tourism revenues in the Philippines stood at just PHP600 billion.
Frasco credited the significant increase to forward-thinking tourism strategies focused on the sustainable utilization and development of the nation’s abundant resources.
In 2024, the Philippines welcomed more than 5.4 million international tourists, marking an 8.7% increase from the previous year. However, this figure fell short of the country’s goal of 7.7 million arrivals.
With its extensive 36,000-kilometre coastline, the Philippines earned the prestigious title of “Asia’s Leading Beach Destination” at the 2024 World Travel Awards.
