ABS CBN News: Philippines wins 7 awards at 31st World Tourism Awards Asia and Oceania

The Philippines bagged seven awards at the 31st annual World Travel Awards Asia and Oceania in Parañaque City.
The country was awarded 2024 Asia's leading beach, dive, and island destination, while specific destinations such as Intramuros, Boracay, and Cebu won Asia's leading tourist attraction, luxury island destination, and wedding destination respectively.
The Department of Tourism's Love the Philippines also won Asia's leading marketing campaign and additionally, Tourism secretary Christina Garcia-Frasco received the transformational leader award in tourism governance.
"This is extremely important as a vote of confidence from the global travel community," said Frasco.
"And these awards are truly an affirmation of the Marcos administration's drive for tourism transformation and a tourism powerhouse," she added.
The World Travel Awards serves to acknowledge, reward and celebrate excellence across all sectors of the global travel and tourism industry
The awards are held in four regions, with the Asia and Oceania Region as the fourth leg hosted by the Philippines.
This is the first time that the international awards program held its annual event in the country.
The winners of the regional ceremonies will progress to the Grand Final in Portugal at the end of the year when the winners of the prestigious World categories will be awarded.
