The Irish News: Game of Thrones Studio Tour nominated for Europe's leading tourist attraction

21 May 2023 - The Irish News

THE Game of Thrones Studio Tour in Co Down has joined Dublin's Guinness Storehouse in being nominated for Europe's leading tourist attraction at the 2023 World Travel Awards.

The Game of Thrones attraction at Linen Mill Studios in Banbridge features costumes and sets from the hit HBO fantasy drama, which was filmed in the north during its eight seasons.

Opened to the public last year, the GOT Studio Tour attracts fans of the show from across the globe, and it was selected for the Europe's Leading Tourist Attraction category at the World Travel Awards.

The Guinness Storehouse in Dublin was the only other Irish attraction in the category, which also features nominees including London's Buckingham Palace, the Eiffel Tower in Paris, and Rome's Colosseum.

The winner will be revealed at a ceremony in Batumi, Georgia, in September following a public vote.

Sherryl Murphy, marketing manager at Game of Thrones Studio Tour said: “It’s fantastic to be nominated for a World Travel Award and one that is determined by the public’s vote. We have had a great start to 2023 and we enjoy extremely positive feedback from visitors from all over the world."
