Greek City Times: Greece is a Shining Star at the World Travel Awards 2021

Greece has emerged as a shining star at the 2021 World Travel Awards as the World Travel Awards announced the 2021 winners of its World categories on Thursday.

World Travel Awards, the leading authority that recognises and rewards excellence in travel and tourism, unveiled the 2021 winners of its World categories at its Grand Final Winners Day, with Greece dominating across multiple categories.

Greece’s Tourism Ministry and the Greek National Tourism Organisation (GNTO) was once again awarded ‘World’s Leading Tourist Board’ this year whilst the Region of Attica was named the ‘World’s Leading Seaside Metropolitan Destination 2021.’

Meanwhile, in the hospitality sector, Santo Maris Oia Luxury Suites & Spa in Santorini claimed the title as ‘World’s Leading Boutique Resort 2021’, the Grand Forest Metsovo was named as ‘World’s Leading Landmark Hotel 2021’, whilst Aristi Mountain Resort & Villas was the winner of the ‘World’s Leading Eco-Lodge 2021’ award.

The Sani Resort took home two top honours, firstly as the ‘World’s Leading Family & Beach Resort 2021’ and secondly as the ‘World’s Leading Luxury Green Resort 2021’.

Winners in Greek hospitality also included Domes Resorts, awarded ‘World’s Leading Independent Hotel Group 2021’ and the Royal Blu Mansion Mykonos Blu Grecotel Exclusive Resort, voted ‘World’s Leading Hotel Villa 2021’.

In addition, ‘World’s Leading Destination Management Company 2021’ was awarded to Greece’s Mideast Travel Worldwide.

These outstanding results for Greece follow a year-long search for the world’s top travel, tourism and hospitality brands. Votes were cast by travel industry professionals and the public, with the nominee gaining the most votes in a category named as the winner.
