Great news for Irish people planning a summer staycation as Ireland is nominated for 16 World Travel Awards.

The World Travel Awards seeks to acknowledge, reward, and celebrate the very best of the global travel and tourism industry. And this year, Ireland’s tourism industry is coming out on top.

A world-class destination – exploring Ireland

For anyone who has ever visited the Emerald Isle, news that Ireland has been nominated for 16 World Travel Awards will come as no surprise.

The World Travel Awards recognises various travel industry sectors from airlines to attractions to hotels and more. And with Ireland’s rich culture and history, world-class hospitality, and stunning natural beauty, it has plenty to offer.

Ireland has received nominations for its hotels, distilleries, cities, museums, heritage tours, and more at this year’s awards.

Award-winning attractions – leading European destination

You may be wondering which locations in Ireland are among those nominated for World Travel Awards. If so, read on for some summer staycation inspiration.

First up, Ireland is nominated for Europe’s Leading Adventure Tourism Destination, just days after being voted the best destination for hiking in Europe. From its scenic mountain trails to its perfect surf beaches, Ireland is a haven for outdoor adventure enthusiasts.

However, if you’re more interested in a relaxing holiday, don’t fret. Ireland has also been nominated for the Leading Destination for all of Europe, and Dublin has received a nomination for best City Break Destination in Europe.

If you want to dive into the country’s culture through live music and entertainment, Ireland could also be the destination for you. The Emerald Isle is also up for the award for Europe’s Leading Festival and Event Destination.

Culture, music, history, and more – plenty to enjoy across Ireland

Among the attractions in Ireland nominated for World Travel Awards is the EPIC Emigration Museum in Dublin. The interactive museum, which has received the nomination for Europe’s Leading Tourist Attraction, focuses on Ireland’s fascinating history of emigration.

However, EPIC is not the only Irish attraction to be in the running for the prestigious award. This year, the Dublin museum will go up against Cork’s historic Spike Island, which was once home to monasteries, fortresses, and a notorious prison.

For those who are partial to whiskey, a trip to Ireland could be the perfect vacation idea. An astonishing four Irish distilleries have received nominations in the category for Europe’s Leading Distillery Tour. These include Jameson Distillery, Tullamore DEW Visitor Centre, Teeling Whiskey Distillery, and Pearse Lyons Distillery.

Amazing accommodation – world-class hospitality

Ireland is well-known for its world-class hospitality, so it comes as no surprise that several Irish hotels are among Ireland’s attractions to have been nominated for World Travel Awards.

The five-star Adare Manor in County Limerick has received the nomination for Europe’s Leading Hotel. If the resort takes home the award, this will be its fourth consecutive year with the title.

Hotel Doolin in County Clare is up for the Leading Green Hotel award, and Inchydoney Island Lodge and Spa in West Cork has received the nomination for Europe’s Leading Island Resort.

Other nominees include The Marker in Dublin’s Docklands for Europe’s Leading New Hotel and Ashford Castle in County Mayo is up for Europe’s Leading Honeymoon Resort.

Dublin Convention Centre takes the nomination for Europe’s Leading Meetings and Conference Centre. And finally, Fáilte Ireland is among nominees for Europe’s Leading Tourist Board.
