The Maldives has been nominated in 10 categories in the Indian Ocean nominees for World Travel Awards 2021.
The categories for which the Maldives was nominated for are:
- Indian Ocean's Leading Destination
- Indian Ocean's Leading Adventure Tourism Destination
- Indian Ocean's Leading Beach Destination
- Indian Ocean's Leading Cruise Destination
- Indian Ocean's Leading Dive Destination
- Indian Ocean's Leading Green Destination
- Indian Ocean's Leading Wedding Destination
- Indian Ocean's Leading Honeymoon Destination
- Indian Ocean's Leading Sustainable Destination
- Indian Ocean's Leading Tourism Board Destination
Voting for the Indian Ocean Nominees at the World Travel Awards will remain open until September 1.
The Maldives has also been nominated as Indian Ocean's Best Cruise Destination. Voting for World Cruise Awards will be open until August 31.
World Travel Awards was established in 1993 to acknowledge, reward and celebrate excellence across all key sectors of the travel, tourism, and hospitality industries. The Maldives has won several awards at past events, including World Leading Destination Award in 2020.
