Andina Peru: Peru to strengthen economic reactivation at Expo Dubai

8 July 2021 - Andina Peru

Peru's Exports and Tourism Promotion Board (PromPerú) reiterated the country's participation in Expo Dubai 2020, which was supposed to take place last year but was postponed due to the pandemic. The world's fair in Dubai will begin on October 1, 2021, and run until March 2022.

"The development of Expo Dubai marks a new milestone in the economic reactivation process, becoming the ideal opportunity for our country to reaffirm itself on the economic, commercial, and tourist stages, thus placing ourselves before the eyes of the world," PromPeru Executive-President Amora Carbajal expressed.

Within Expo Dubai, the Peruvian pavilion will be accessible through a replica of Cusco region's Q'eswachaka Bridge —a wonderful community work that has been recognized by UNESCO.

The announcement was made after signing an agreement with DP World —a port logistics operator, which will enable the best products to be sent from the South American country to Dubai so that millions of visitors from around the world can enjoy and learn more about Peru.

Expo Dubai is a privileged occasion to showcase Peru's diverse exportable offer and tourist destinations.

The Peruvian pavilion will boost various activities such as business rounds linked to the textile sector with the aim of promoting Peruvian alpaca fiber and cotton.

In order to show our diversity in natural inputs, food fairs will be held, where superfoods will be the main protagonists, thus publicizing the food industry.

The United Arab Emirates ranks fifth in terms of Peruvian exports to Asia — behind China, South Korea, Japan, and India. In 2020, non-traditional exports to the Middle Eastern giant grew by 6.1% compared to 2019.

On the other hand, within the framework of Expo Dubai 2020, the World Travel Awards' South American edition ceremony will be held. Peru is nominated in 16 categories on this occasion. Thus, this is a proper occasion to advertise our main tourist destinations.

According to projections, participating in Expo Dubai may provide Peru with a potential market of US$2.14 billion for export products, as well as tourism-related income worth over US$44 million for two years.

Expo Dubai 2020 brings together the best of the participating countries in one place. More information at: https://www.expo2020dubai.com/
