Forbes: Jamaica Holds Honeymoon Sweepstakes For Couples

3 March 2021 - Forbes

Are you one of those unfortunate brides – or grooms – who had to cancel your wedding last year, due to COVID?

Well, you may be in luck. The Jamaica Tourist Board would like to make your situation better.

Over the last year, many couples around the world had to cancel or postpone their wedding or honeymoon plans, but one thing we do know is that — love is not cancelled! In the spirit of romance, the Jamaica Tourist Board is launching a ‘No Wedding, No Cry’ Jamaica Honeymoon Sweepstakes on March 15, 2021. Couples who show proof of a wedding cancellation between April-December 2020 can enter to win an ultimate four-night honeymoon to Moon Palace Jamaica complete with their deluxe honeymoon package, roundtrip airfare, airport transfers and a romantic excursion for two.

Moon Palace Jamaica is a 704-room AAA Four Diamond resort located in Ocho Rios, Jamaica, about 90 minutes from Jamaica’s Sangster International Airport. The resort is one of Jamaica’s most luxurious all-inclusive resorts, which offers guests the opportunity to experience 17-acres of private beach. The property features lavish swimming pools, the only FlowRider Double wave simulator and the largest spa in Jamaica. In fact, the AWE Spa is the largest spa in Jamaica. The resort prides itself on wellness, and offers gluten-free options at all restaurants, along with a state-of-the-art fitness center and latest fitness activities including spinning and aqua spinning, yoga, and Pilates.

The resort also offers multiple dining destinations, as well as decadent desserts created by pastry guru Antonio Bachour, along with six bars, a jerk shack on the beach, a gourmet corridor, an ultra-chic nightclub, and more.

And may I make a suggestion? Why not get married there while you are on your honeymoon?

Most important, the island of Jamaica, in December 2020, was named by the World Travel Awards as “The World’s Leading Wedding Destination.”

Here are also a few Jamaica wedding trends, based on a “virtual” wedding expo that I attended in Jamaica. Microweddings are the new choice, says Camile Glenister, Deputy Director of Tourism and Chief Marketing Officer of the Jamaica Tourist Board. In addition, Kylie Carlson, Founder of the Wedding Academy, further explained how the global pandemic has shaken things up, and the top trend for 2021 is the “personal, intimate” microwedding. It has been named the #pintimate wedding. These are born of Covid restrictions, for people who want to focus on the guest experience, and have a bigger per-guest-budget. New mini ceremonies called “minimonies” are what couples are opting for nowadays in 2021, where they may have only 10 guests in attendance, with everyone social-distancing.

The Honeymoon Sweepstakes Entries must be submitted between March 15, 2021 and April 15, 2021. The sweepstakes is open to legal residents of the 48 Contiguous United States (including DC), Canada (excluding Quebec) and UK who have the age of majority in his or her state, territory or providence of residence as of the time of the sweepstakes start date. “The wedding industry is reinventing itself,” said Ms. Carlson – and now you can benefit from it.

Good luck in the sweepstakes!
