CXPRESS: Every vote counts to get Plett in top spot on Africa’s Leading Beach Destination podium

For the 11th year in a row, Plettenberg Bay has received a nomination in the World Travel Awards as Africa’s Leading Beach Destination - a most prestigious honour for the Garden Route beach town. This is the 27th annual competition acknowledging global travel and tourism.

“We are extremely excited about the nomination, and in particular that this is the 11th year running that Plett has been nominated,” says Plett Tourism CEO Marius Venter.

“It’s important that fans of Plettenberg Bay participate - both travel professionals and consumers are eligible to vote,” adds Plett Tourism spokesperson Patty Butterworth.

“The destinations with the most votes in a particular category are named as the winner, which ensures that only the most deserving businesses walk away with one of these prestigious accolades.”

World Travel Awards was established in 1993 to acknowledge, reward and celebrate excellence across all sectors of the tourism industry. Today, the brand is recognised globally as the ultimate hallmark of quality, with winners setting the benchmark to which all others aspire.

Each year, World Travel Awards covers the globe with a series of regional gala ceremonies staged to celebrate the achievements and strengths of the travel industry, within each key geographical region.

It is no surprise Plettenberg Bay has been nominated 11 years running. With the dedication and assistance from Bitou Municipality and the team at Plett Tourism, the area has won several accolades and award for its Blue Flag beaches and other coastal treasures.
