604 Now: B.C. Will Become The 1st Province To Host The Prestigious World Travel Awards

7 August 2019 - 604 Now

B.C. is set to make history. For the first time ever, the World Travel Awards (WTA) will be hosted in Canada.

The Thompson Okanagan has won a 3-year bid to host the World Travel Awards in the region.

The first year of the bid will be held at the Predator Ridge Resort in Vernon, British Columbia.

Over 300 international delegates will be present at the North American Gala Ceremony in October 2020 as part of the World Travel Awards Grand Tour.

Founded in 1993, the awards acknowledges, rewards, and celebrates excellence across all sectors of the tourism industry.

The application to bring these awards to B.C was put together by the Thompson Okanagan Tourism Association (TOTA), Predator Ridge Resort, and the City of Vernon earlier this year.

Host cities for the second and third years will be announced at a later date.
