W Doha Hotel and Residences underlined its dominance within the hospitality market at the World Travel Awards' Grand Finale Ceremony in New Delhi. W Doha, the first lifestyle hotel in Qatar was honoured with the prestigious award for 'World Leading Hotel and Residences', marking the end to the World Travel Awards' year long search for the world's most successful travel and tourism brands in the world.
Established in 1992, the World Travel Awards' worldwide survey is conducted by professionals from the travel and tourism industry to seek out and reward the very best travel organisations in the world - those brands pushing the boundaries of excellence and implementing ground-breaking ideas.
Over the years, the World Travel Awards have developed into the most significant and comprehensive awards programme in travel and tourism, and is recognised worldwide as the hallmark of industry excellence.
Considered the biggest event on the luxury hotel industry calendar, the World Travel Awards turns the spotlight on some of the worlds most sought after hotels, lodges, resorts and private islands. The 'World Leading Hotel & Residences Award' brings to an end an extremely successful year for W Doha. In October the property took home the coveted 'Favourite Hotel' title at the first ever Qatar Choice Awards whilst two of its signature restaurants; Market by Jean-Georges and Spice Market won Favourite Restaurant and Favourite Asian concept respectively. In the same week, the hotel's culinary team took 14 medals in the Salon Culinaire competition, held during the Qatar's Diyafa 2012 hospitality exhibition.
