At the opening of the World Travel Market held Monday 5, November in London, Mauritius was awarded two international awards: The Leading Indian Ocean Diving Destination and the Leading Indian Ocean Wedding Destination awarded by the World Travel Awards.
Both awards recognized the efforts of the MTPA and all other actors in the field in making Mauritius a destination of choice. Having won numerous international awards in the last decade, Mauritius continues to maintain its reputation as the world leader.
These titles also confirm the diversity and quality of the Mauritian product: the innate excellence of service, the legendary hospitality of the people, the cuisine, and especially the rich cultural diversity that differentiates this destination from other competitors.
Apart from its beautiful beaches, Mauritius is also known to be a wedding and honeymoon destination. To date, the destination has hosted several couples who have said “Yes” under the Mauritian sun. Thus the title Leading Indian Ocean Wedding Destination awarded by the World Travel Awards, proves that Mauritius has all the advantages to attract tourists.
Meanwhile, the Director of the MTPA, Dr Karl Mootoosamy continues to pursue interviews with partners and tour operators including British Airways, Virgin Holidays, Lastminute.com, and the British press such as the Lonely Planet magazine, The Times and The Independent.
