The Indian Maharaja-Deccan Odyssey of Maharashtra Tourism Development Corporation (MTDC) recently won Asia’s Best Luxury Train Award at the 19th World Travel Awards (WTA). The luxury train has won the award for the third consecutive year. The nominees for the award included Eastern & Oriental Express, Palace on Wheels, The Golden Chariot, and The Viceroy of India.
The week-long tour of The Indian Maharaja covers Northwestern India, through the cities of Delhi, Agra, Jaipur, Sawai Madhopur, Udaipur, Aurangabad and Mumbai. The services in the train include a library, a bar, an Ayurvedic massage centre, a gymnasium, and a beauty parlour. The Indian Maharaja - Deccan Odyssey has 21 coaches, of which, 11 are passenger cars with four coupes each. Additionally, there are two presidential suite cars with two coupes per car. Besides, the train has two restaurant cars, one lounge/bar car and a spa car.
