The recently concluded 19th edition World Travel Awards 2012 in Portugal has named Turkey as ‘The Best in Europe’ in 14 categories. The Turkish Ministry of Culture & Tourism was voted as Europe’s Leading Tourist Board. The award for Europe's Leading Cruise Destination went to Izmir, a metropolis in Turkey. The awards also acknowledged Turkey’s hotel sector, with Mardan Palace, Antalya winning Europe’s Leading Luxury Hotel award; Cornelia Diamond Golf Resort & Spa, Belek being named Europe’s Leading Luxury Resort, Angel’s Peninsula, Marmaris awarded Europe’s Leading New Luxury Hotel, etc.
