Air New Zealand has been named Australasia's leading airline in the World Travel Awards for the fourth consecutive year.

The national carrier was the pick of a bunch which included Qantas, Jetstar, Virgin and Air Pacific among others.

Air New Zealand also currently holds the title of Air Transport World magazine's airline of the year.

Tourism New Zealand was also recognised at the WTA's Singapore awards show, while Auckland had already been named Australasia's leading destination.

The World Travel Awards recognise travel brands that have made the greatest contribution to the travel industry over the past year, says Air New Zealand.

The airline's chief executive Rob Fyfe said receiving the award four years in a row reflected the company's "commitment to delivering a world class and uniquely Kiwi service to customers" and was "quite extraordinary".

"Australasia is a very competitive market and this award is testament to the continued hard work and passion of our 11,500 staff throughout the world," Fyfe said.

Winners of the Australasian awards will be put forward for the WTA global "grand final" in New Delhi, India on December 12.
