Sri Lanka's Jetwing leisure group has swept has snagged top spots for the island at World Travel Awards, a 20 year old event whose organizers say is based on votes of travel professionals and consumers.
Jetwing Vil Uyana, built around a man-made wetland has been named Sri Lanka leading boutique hotel; Jetwing Blue, Sri Lanka's leading resort; Jetwing Lighthouse, Sri Lanka's leading spa resort and Jetwing Ayurveda Pavillions Sri Lanka's leading wellness resort.

Casa Colombo, has won the award Sri Lanka's best business hotel and Hilton Colombo Sri Lanka's leading hotel.

No Sri Lankan hotel made it to the Asian regional awards, which were dominated by India, Malaysia, Singapore and Thailand.

India, a repeat winner was again named Asia's leading destination, with the country bagging several Asian awards.

Asia's fastest growing destination management company was named India's Akquasun Holidays. Sri Lanka's Expolanka has said it had acquired a 50 percent stake in a firm called Akquasun Holidays.

Inda's Trident Guagaon was named Asia's leading hotel, Asia's leading luxury hotel, The Oberoi Gurgaon, Asia's leading luxury hotel brand, Oberoi Hotels and Resorts and Asia's leading resort Park Hyatt Goa Resort and Spa.

The Indian Maharajah was named Asia's leading luxury train Asia's leading suite, Maharajah's Pavilion, the Raj Palace and Asia's leading tourist attraction Taj Mahal India.

Incredible India won awards for Asia's leading tourist board and Asia's leading tourism organization.
