30 Apr 2012 was a golden day in the history of Dubai’s tourism. It hosted the World Travel Awards for Middle East at the award-wining Jebel Ali Golf Resort & Spa. Not only this, Dubai growing popularity as an international tourist destination further strengthened after it won the title of “Middle East’s Leading Destination” for the second year running and the Dubai International Airport was named “Middle East’s Leading Airport”.

The evening of 30 April, 2012 at Jebel Ali Golf Resort & Spa, Dubai, sparkled with a packed delegation of VIPs, senior tourism figures and international media and glittered with the performances of Lebanese popstar Carole Samaha, Wonho Chung and Sterling EQ during the gala ceremony.

Graham E. Cooke, President & Founder, WTA, says: “Dubai’s appetite for pushing boundaries makes it one the world’s most innovative tourism destinations, as well as a most fitting host to start our WTA Grand Tour 2012.” He also adds, “Our winners are also drawn from the entire breadth of the Middle East, reflecting the monumental gains that the region’s travel and tourism sector has made in recent years. I am sure these organizations will fare strongly in our Grand Final, which takes place in New Delhi, India on 12 December 2012.”
