Two New Zealand beaches have been nominated as Leading Beach Destinations in Australasia in the World Travel Awards – and tourism heads are calling for your votes.

The Abel Tasman National Park and Ninety Mile Beach will compete against the Cook Islands' Aitutaki and Sydney's Bondi Beach for the title of Australasia's Leading Beach Destination.

The winner will then go up against the world's top beach destinations at the World Travel Awards grand final in New Delhi in December.

Nelson Tasman Tourism international marketing manager Loren Heaphy is encouraging people to vote for the pristine national park at the top of the South Island.

"We are fortunate to have such a beautiful natural paradise in our backyard and it is fantastic to see it being recognised on a global stage."

Other New Zealand tourism businesses and destinations nominated in the World Travel Awards include Air New Zealand for Leading Australasian Airline, Wellington International Airport for Leading Australasian Airport, and Tourism New Zealand for Leading Tourist Board.

Tourism New Zealand picked up the award for Australasia's Leading Tourist Board in 2011 and is hoping for a repeat performance again this year.
