Hermitage Plantation, Nisbet Plantation, Four Seasons Resort Nevis and Montpelier Plantation have all been nominated for the prestigious 19th World Travel Awards 2012.

World Travel Awards was launched in 1993 to acknowledge and recognize excellence in the global travel and tourism industry and is regarded as the very highest achievement that a travel product can receive.

The four hotels in Nevis were nominated in a total six categories. The Four Seasons Resort was nominated in the following categories -Caribbean's Leading Golf Resort, St. Kitts-Nevis Leading Resort, Caribbean's Leading Honeymoon Resort, Caribbean's Leading Hotel, and Caribbean's Leading Resort.

Nisbet Plantation was nominated as Caribbean's Leading Resort, St. Kitts and Nevis' Leading Hotel and St. Kitts-Nevis Leading Resort.
Montpelier Plantation and Hermitage Plantation each received a single nomination for St. Kitts and Nevis' Leading Hotel.

Nevis was also nominated in the Caribbean's Leading Honeymoon Destination category.

In 2011, the Four Seasons Resort received the award in St. Kitts and Nevis' Leading Hotel and St. Kitts and Nevis' Leading Resort.

In an interview with The Observer, Chief Executive Officer in the Nevis Tourism Authority John Hanley expressed pride that hotels in Nevis were nominated and commended the hotels on their achievement.

“The Nevis Tourism Authority is delighted that the caliber of Nevis’ hotels continues to bring international attention to the island as a premium tourism destination. The management and staff of Nisbet Plantation Beach Club, Four Seasons Resort, The Hermitage and Montpelier Plantation Inn must be commended for their nominations for the prestigious World Travel Awards. These nominations demonstrate the confidence and high esteem which tourism professionals and travelers alike have placed and continue to place in Destination Nevis,” Hanley said.

Steve Tyson, Room Division Manager at Nisbet Plantation, credited the staff of Nisbet with the recent nomination.

“It’s a reflection of the dedication of our staff,” Tyson said. “The staff enjoys what they are doing and they take great pride in executing good service to their guests. To me, that is the bottom line at the end of the day.”

He continued, “As a hotel we are very, very fortunate to have the staff that we have. They understand what our expectation is; they understand what our guest expectation is and they consistently deliver.”

He said the international recognition had contributed to increased business for the hotel during this past winter season.

“Things have been fairly busy during the winter season. We firmly believe that one of the driving factors has been the consistent awards that we have received. We see more people visiting our web site and those visits have been converted into bookings. The word of Nisbet Plantation has definitely been spread more,” he said.

Timothy Huffman of Montpelier Plantation expressed excitement with regard the nomination and also credited the staff at the hotel for getting them to that lofty position.

“We are very excited. The hotel continues to work hard to offer great service. We have an amazing team at Montpelier that has worked hard for us to get to that position,” Huffman said.

Winners will be announced during the Caribbean & the Americas Gala Ceremony to be held at The Beaches, Turks & Caicos on September 14, 2012.
