28 February 2012 - Compare Away
It is traditional that when 29th February comes round women can propose to their boyfriends. This is an old tradition, where in the past it was only the man allowed to propose to the woman. Those romantics and more old fashioned of us, may like to stick to the tradition this year, but where to do it?
In order to help women with providing the most romantic backdrop for their proposition, the World Travel Organisation has compiled a list of the most romantic locations worldwide. Their list is topped by the Taj Mahal, India and followed by Lewa Downs, Kenya then Antarctica. It continues with Rialto Brisge in Venice, Iguazu Falls in Argentina, Roseberry Topping in Yorkshire, Sahara Desert in Morocco, The Pitons in St Lucia, Great Barrier Reef in Australia and Snowshill in the Cotswolds UK. The great news is that you do not have to break the bank as there are two UK destinations there and one is more southerly and the other more northerly.
The Executive Vice President of the World Travel Organisation, Manon Han explained that they had chosen a selection of destinations so that there was something for everyone. With choices which are very traditional with some that are more off beat. You want to make it a memorable occasion and so at home in front of the football, simply will not do! There may be a place that is special to the two of you, but there is nothing nicer than choosing a new place which you can have brand new memories of.
