Tenerife resort among award winners

The Mare Nostrum complex in Tenerife was named the leading spa resort in Spain at the 2007 World Travel Awards.

Situated 15 minutes from the Reina Sofia airport, the Mare Nostrum resort is easily accessible for travellers who have booked their flights to Tenerife.

The complex comprises five hotels, each with its own reception, and is located close to the white sand beach Playa del Camison.

It was not the only Spanish winner at the World Travel Awards, however, as the Mallorca Marriott Son Antem golf resort and spa was named the country's leading resort.

For avid golfers the best place to head is the Gran Hotel Lopesan Villa del Conde Meloneras in Gran Canaria, according to the award judges.

Among the other successful international locations was the Marmara in Bodrum, Turkey, which was voted the country's top spa resort, and Orlando in the USA, which took the prize for North America's leading destination.
