Luxury cruise operator Star Clippers has celebrated its success in the 2011 World Travel Awards, highlighting one accolade in particular which recognised its environmental innovations.
The company was named the world's leading green cruise line, the top luxury sailing cruise provider and the best small-ship line.
Andy Lovering, sales and marketing director for Star Clippers, said the award for the operator's green initiatives validates its efforts to be a 'responsible corporate citizen'.
'To also achieve honours for our overall product confirms the strong relationships we have with both our travel agent partners and those who sail with us,' he added.
The company uses a fleet of three small ships - the Star Flyer, Star Clipper and Royal Clipper - to operate cruises to popular destinations including Athens, Venice, the Greek Islands and the Caribbean.
