Three Cuban hotels - Hotel Nacional, Sandals Royal Hicacos Resort and Spa, and Occidental Royal Hideaway Ensenachos - were included in the list of Caribbean winners of the prestigious 2011 World Travel Awards.
For the seventh consecutive occasion, Varadero’s Sandals Royal Hicacos received the distinction in the category of ‘Cuba’s Leading Resort’ while Havana’s Hotel Nacional was chosen as ‘Cuba’s Leading Hotel’, and Occidental Royal Hideaway Ensenachos, located in Cayo Santa María -- to the north of the central province of Villa Clara -- won the award as ‘Cuba’s Leading Spa Resort’.
The World Travel Awards is a prestigious organization of travel professionals around the world that recognizes excellent customer service in the international travel and tourism industry.
Wayne Cummings, director of business processes and administration of Sandals Royal, presented the award to the workers of Sandals Royal Hicacos on Thursday. This facility, a five-star hotel, was built in 2002. It has 404 rooms, including two royal suites and a presidential suite.
