Meet the Winner
Dr Lui Che-woo is the Chairman of K. Wah Group, one of Asia’s largest and leading conglomerates engaged in properties, entertainment and leisure, hospitality and construction materials with over 200 subsidiaries and close to 30,000 employees worldwide and the foothold of the business covers Hong Kong, Mainland China, Macau, North America and Southeast Asia.
The adversity and hardship that Dr Lui experienced and witnessed in his young life planted in his heart the seeds of compassion and selflessness that shaped his future efforts. A distinguished philanthropist, Dr Lui has been particularly supportive of the development of medical care, education, information technology and hotel and tourism industries.
In 2015, Dr Lui Che-woo established the LUI Che Woo Prize – Prize for World Civilisation. It is an annual international award honouring those who have selflessly contributed to world civilisation through the sustainable development of world resources, improvement of the common welfare of mankind, and the promotion of positive attitude. LUI Che Woo Prize not only recognises the laureates’ accomplishments and encourages them to continue on their missions, but also inspires the global community to build a better world together.
呂志和博士為嘉華集團主席，嘉華集團是亞洲最具規模的大型綜合企業之一，業務範圍涵蓋房地產、娛樂休閒、酒店以及建築材料，附屬公司超過200多間，全球員工近30,000人，業務遍佈香港、中國內地、澳門、北美洲及東南亞。
呂博士年輕時因飽歷逆境，迭受磨煉，故仁愛無私的種子早已植根心中，為其日後造福社會的志向奠下紮實的基礎。數十年來，呂博士積極回饋社群，對醫療、高等教育、基礎教育、資訊科技及酒店旅遊業發展尤為熱心。
2015年， 呂志和博士在香港創立「呂志和獎 - 世界文明獎」，藉此一年一度的國際性獎項，表彰全球以無私大愛推動世界文明的傑出人士或團體，促使世界資源可持續發展，改善世人福祉，倡導積極正面人生觀及提升正能量以振奮人心。「呂志和獎」亦鼓勵獲獎者再接再厲，努力不懈，以延續愛人利物，博施濟眾之使命，共建和諧美好的世界。
