Turks & Caicos Islands

Turks & Caicos

Powdery white sand and crystal-clear waters are always synonymous with the Caribbean, and Turks & Caicos is up there with the best of them.

The beaches and diving there have been voted some of the finest globally, while its properties and secluded hideaways attract accolades worldwide. With such a world class offering, the islands are a fitting venue for World Travel Awards 13th Annual Gala Ceremony on 20th September.

The 40 islands and cays, which cover 500 square kilometres (193sq. miles), are located 250 kilometres (155 miles) east of Cuba or 885 kilometres (550 miles) southeast of New York, at the tail end of the Bahamas.

It has the third largest protective reef system in the world, yet only eight of the islands are inhabited by 26,000 residents. The major islands in the chain, Providenciales in the Caicos islands is know locally as Provo. The other main inhabited islands include Grand Turk, North, Middle and South Caicos, as well as Salt, Pine and Parrot Cay.
