This event took place at the very luxurious Hacienda Tres Rios in Mexico and was attended by many senior management officials from many different organizations. This award ceremony has been called the Oscars of the travel industry, and allows people to see who reins supreme in different regions of the world.
For the North and Central American World Travel Awards, American Airlines was able to win North America’s Leading Airline. The Fairmont Hotels and Reports group was able to win four awards, which did include North America’s Leading Golf Resort and Canada’s Leading Golf and Ski Resort.
The leading hotel brand for North America actually went to Marriott Hotels and Resorts, and the leading destination in North America went to Miami. However, some of these winners were already predicted by many people.
For the Central America categories, Mexicana was able to reign as the Leading Airline, and Parador Boutique Resort and Spa picked up Central America’s Leading Hotel award. The Cancun Convention and Visitors Bureau was able to pick up Central America’s Leading Destination award.
During the awards more than 500 different travel groups were nominated for the ceremony. However, in the end the travel awards were given to the select few companies that were able to put in a little bit extra. The next travel awards promises to be a great one.
